HIBS Vs Safi Southsiders - An important game !

Hibs will be playing twice this week, facing El Mundos on Monday and Safi Southsiders on Thursday.  The table could complicate further if Hibs fail to overcome the El Mundos challenge, which of course will not be neither an easy nor an impossible task to achieve.  Safi Southsiders will be looking for another great performance which could improve their position in the table, however a defeat would put them back in the relegation section.  Hibs will be a difficult task for the Southsiders.  In the first round Southsiders lost in the dying minutes against Hibs.

1st Division Section A Review

After just two matches into the second round, it looks like nobody wants to give up.  With Zurrieq Old Boys beating El Mundos and Southsiders beating Scandals and the sharing of the spoils between Zurrieq FC and Southenders only entangled further this section.  It's a big battle between all sides, maybe except Scandals themselves, to avoid relegation.  With three teams at 10 points, Zurrieq FC on 8, Zurrieq Old Boys on 7 and Hibs on 12, it will surely be a battle until the end, not only for relegation purposes but also to determine the runner-up of the group.  Hibs and El Mundos have a game in hand.  Will Hibs beat El Mundos and reach Scandals ? Will El Mundos win and go on 13 points or will they share the points ? Only time will tell ! View Results and Fixtures.

Safi Southsiders beat division leaders Scandals Bar

Safi Southsiders finally broke their duck, playing some nice football and deservedly obtained the 3 points at stake.  We have finally witnessed some determination from a side who despite sweeping through the 3rd and 2 nd Division almost conceded relegation as early as the first round in 1st Division.  Southsiders looked determined for a win and score four times to shock Scandals within 20 minutes.  Just before half time Scandals reduced the gap after a cross shot was mistakingly put by Simon Cutajar in his own net.

For the second half, Scandals started more aggressive but Southsiders capitalised on this and sealed another goal from a counter-attach.  Mark Psaila broke through once more only to be fouled outside the penalty area by last man standing, the keeper.  The Scandals keeper was sent off. Southsiders again capitalised on their man-up situation sealing a 6-1 lead.  Just before the end of the match Scandals got a goal back from a shot which keeper Cutajar could not hold and netted the ball in his own net.

It was a deserved win and put Southsiders on 10 points equal to El-Mundos and Southenders.  Scandals still lead the group on 16 points.

Southsiders humiliated by Southenders 2-5

Safi Southsiders could not get a grip on the match against Southenders.  Southsiders never really threatened Southenders and accepted defeated as early as the first five minutes.  The fast pace of Southenders killed Southsiders who attempted a 2-2 formation.  The various changes in the Southsiders side did not allow for the players to settle in and lacked motivation throughout.  This attitude will surely condemn Southsiders to a lower division.
